IBARW requests, day 4
I have some bad news for you guys. I've just been informed that tomorrow we're going to Canada, and I'm going too, and therefore I probably won't be able to finish all ten of the ones I promised I'd do - for sure! - by the end of the week. That doesn't mean I'm not going to try, but I might have to postpone the completion of all these till next week unless by some miracle I can knock out two more pictures in the next seven hours (which will require me not sleeping, as well).

This makes me very cross.

On the plus side, though - if I can't complete all ten by tomorrow morning, I'll just do all six of the remaining requests next week, since, you see, I won't have any time constraints to worry about after that.

Anyway. Here we go.

First: Dutch, for simargl_wings.

I wanted to give this a kind of neo-noir-ish feel, hence the mostly b&w style with color for the big boom on the boat; it seemed fitting, and I assumed it would also mean I'd have to spend less time worrying about getting the colors right. About halfway through coloring the explosion I realized this was not entirely so. On the other hand, I got some valuable experience in how to color an explosion! I love how nonchalant Dutch looks. Which is kind of the point: giant explosion in the background, leaking gas can in the foreground, and Dutch just sucking death from a cigarette without a care in the world.

Second: Noguchi Machiko, for ilyena_sylph.

In the process of doing this drawing, I discovered two things I had not previously known about Machiko and her presence on the internet. One: that she has action figures of her, that exist! Two: those action figures make her look like a stripper. A white stripper. That just ain't right. So I had to draw Machiko getting ready to kill something. I think she's gonna do it, too. (It appears to have been "dangerous day" today, too. Perhaps if I weren't asked to draw so many characters who are so good at kicking ass! :P Seriously, I hope I never run out of ass-kicking characters to draw.)
